Storey celebrates first year success

Storey 25 Jun 2018

Storey, British Land’s flexible workspace brand, is celebrating its first birthday this week having expanded rapidly across London since it launched last year. The capital’s most innovative SMEs are rapidly filling Storey workspace, attracted to its unique offer across British Land’s London campuses at Broadgate, Paddington Central, Regent’s Place and Ealing.

“With Storey, you don’t just move into a workspace: you become part of a community of inventive, dynamic, problem-solving businesses.”

77% of existing Storey space is already occupied – and three quarters of the space is home to tech businesses. With an average size of 50 employees, Storey’s customer base covers a wide range of tech subsectors including digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, connected vehicles and robotics.  Storey is building on this strong demand: additional workspace will be launched across the capital, providing working environments that cultivate creativity, productivity, and wellbeing.

New “club” space will open at British Land’s Paddington Central location, allowing customers to host events, meet with clients, and collaborate with fellow Storey customers.

“The best and brightest in the tech community and beyond are choosing to work in Storey’s office environments.”

Joff Sharpe, Co-Lead of Storey

“I’m thrilled with the fantastic response to Storey over the past year”, says Joff Sharpe, Co-Lead of Storey and Head of Operations at British Land. “The best and brightest in the tech community and beyond are choosing to work in Storey’s office environments. They are attracted to our fantastic workspace, world class service, and campus offer, where we give them the amenities, flexibility, and opportunities to collaborate that have traditionally only been available to bigger companies. With Storey, you don’t just move into a workspace: you become part of a community of inventive, dynamic, problem-solving businesses.”

Established to meet the needs of small businesses that have outgrown co-working arrangements – and larger businesses seeking extra capacity on more flexible terms – Storey is operational across over 120,000 sq ft of flexible office space, with a further 120,000 sq ft due to open in the short term.

Storey customers include pioneering robotic software company Blue Prism; international mobile network operator Ice Group; telecommunications infrastructure company BAI Communications UK; existing Regent’s Place occupier Lendlease; and connected vehicle technology innovator, Tantalum, amongst others.

Seven things you need to consider when choosing the right workspace for you

Things you need to consider when choosing the right workspace for you. From meeting rooms and event spaces to flexible working. How do you create the perfect workspace for your company? Top of your list should be a welcoming place where people can come together to share ideas. You need a place that provides all the practicalities too: a great location that offers your team culture, entertainment and wellbeing options on their doorstep; straightforward costs; good community and networking opportunities; inclusive accessibility and easy commutes; long-term sustainability plus excellent service and tech support.

The power of a well-designed workplace to support productivity

The stereotypical office – from the flickering fluorescents to the uniform rows of plastic, coffee-stained desks – hardly inspires creativity. However, the inverse is also true: a thoughtfully designed workplace can empower employees to focus, innovate, and do their best work.
